Georg Bartkowiak solid red gold watch in 2011

Jochen Benzinger is acknowledged as the leading specialist worldwide for hand-skeletonized timepieces and guilloché work. Watch movements are skeletonized, guilloché, hand-engraved, and even sometimes technically modified by hand in his workshop in a traditional manner using special historical machines and tools. This allows him to create his own typical style of horological art
The new models Regulator Pharos and Polaris are, however, distinctly masculine. Both watches are outfitted with a specially modified mechanical movement that was altered using self-manufactured components.
The new collection comes in solid red gold watch cases of contemporary design and perfect finish. The hand-guilloché bezel and the high gold content of the solid case bear witness to the substantial presence of these new watches

.
The hand-guilloché base dial crafted in solid Sterling silver shines with a white Breguet frosted finish, a finishing technique that is currently only in use by Jochen Benzinger. The functional skeletonized part of the dial is crafted in 18-karat red gold, as is the solid 43 mm case..

The new Benzinger Boutique models may even surprise connoisseurs of the high-end scene: up to this point, the Benzinger watches have mainly been masterpieces of movement decoration and skeletonization. Georg Barkowiak and Jochen Benzinger uniquely prove they are able to walk the fine line between traditional technology and exceptional design, making them a holistic unit and creating handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces with high rarity value, guaranteeing their future owners corresponding exclusivity.
The Benzinger classic, the timepiece that collectors all over the world have loved for years, is the skeletonized watch. In a red gold case it is clearly even more valuable and more impressive than ever

Contact eggs and watches

Some people will never linked to eggs and watch, but the fact that in the history of watchmaking, there is the nature of their contact.
A symbol of regenerating life, the egg shape has been used in watchmaking since the 16th century. Historians are pretty much unanimous in citing the Nuremberg Egg as the first portable watch.
Historically speaking, it is the egg that gave birth to modern portable watches. Starting with what is known as the Nuremberg Egg, it shows up from time to time –now notably in modern interpretations by the likes of Ladoire and Breguet.
Victor Mayer, Fabergé’s last workmaster, situated in Pforzheim, Germany, created a new generation of eggs beginning with the first post-revolutionary example, which was presented to Mikhail Gorbachev as he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991.

The most horologically complicated egg was completed in collaboration with master watchmaker Paul Gerber of Zurich: the Moon Phase Clock Egg from 2001, a limited edition of twelve pieces. Made of gold, onyx, rock crystal, and rose quartz, the body of the egg was crafted in hand-guilloché gold and completed with translucent light blue enamel. The moon phases are shown on a navy blue enameled sky with gold leaf stars.
The latest example is, of course, Hublot is Key of Time. Like a science fiction novel, this model was reborn from the remains of BNB’s demise and has now taken on an entirely different, post-modern look – reminiscent of an egg.
The Christophe Colomb, whose case is round, contains a sapphire crystal with two half-globes protruding from either side. The effect, particularly of the rotating escapement inside, is decidedly egg-shaped.
Dictated by its difficult geometrical shape, the egg remains a rarity in modern watchmaking.

The Voiles de Saint Barth of the sponsor as a RICHARD MILLE

A real «Formula 1 racer» of the seas, the Rambler 100 maxi yacht has taken the unprecedented technological capacities of its predecessor Rambler 90, winner at Saint Barth in 2010, to a new level. Richard Mille is delighted to be associated with its renewed success which further establishes his position in the nautical world.
As the main sponsor of the event, Richard Mille salutes the organisers and the success of this second edition as well as the sporting performances of the crews. The courses selected by the organisers offered spectacular scenery every day and presented a variety of tactical challenges, including a complete circumnavigation of the island which the crews tackled on Saturday during the fi nal race.

During the prize giving ceremony on Saturday evening he was presented with a limited edition Richard Mille RM 028 “Voiles de Saint Barth” diving watch.
he comparison with the world of Richard Mille is obvious: exhibiting the same enthusiasm for innovation as well as ultimate performance. With more than 400 sailors from 20 countries and 48 yachts at the beginning of the week, more than double the over last year, the second edition of the Voiles de Saint Barth kept all its promises and rightly retains its place in the main international regatta calendar.
Competition was fi erce, with hard-fought skirmishes between the leaders in the different classes. In the Maxi-Yacht class, the star of these yachts, Rambler 100, brought its owner George David a second victory after last years.
Sailing conditions lived up to the island’s reputation, with strong winds and rough seas of an exceptional blue during the whole week. The competitors agreed that sailing the waters around Saint Barth was a unique experience.

With modern Maurice de Mauriac watch

Showing off the Chronograph Modern with the Tactical Vision crystal is a joy. People don't know what to make of it, and always smile. Plus, people seeing the watch are often transfixed, as the crystal colors keep moving and changing.
A pair of Maurice de Mauriac Chronograph Modern watches in 45mm wide steel cases. One is in a DLC black case with a carbon fiber dial, and the other is in a PVD black case with a black dial with white text.

The piece with the blue tinted dial is a prototype - but more will come. It represents a hold of watches with colored sapphire crystals that Maurice de Mauriac will make available. These crystals apparently weren't easy to find. Rolex offered green tinted crystals on some Milgauss models.
I am told that in addition to all the available colors, you can opt for flat or domed crystals. Do far I have seen Maurice de Mauriac watches with this special Tactical Vision crystal, and with red and blue crystals. These really help transform a watch. With the Chronograph Modern as a base, you can really have a functional, military-esque time with a fashionable element on top of it (literally).
There are a host of special optical equipment that attempts to make good use of the light via special colors and lens treatments. The function of these optics is to offer as legible a view as possible in low light situations without the need for an energy powered light amplification system, etc... As such, because the watch crystal mimics this, a fitting name was to refer to it as the Tactical Vision crystal, on top of the Chronograph Modern watch.
This is a new watch. This theoretically offers you the ability to have one watch, with a bunch of looks.
